About Scott McCann
Experienced CBT therapist dedicated to helping people in Glasgow achieve lasting change through evidence-based therapy.
About Me
Life can be challenging, complex and at times deeply painful. Many people reach a point where they are surviving rather than living, feeling disconnected from themselves, others or a sense of purpose. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a more fulfilling, meaningful life, even when circumstances feel overwhelming or hard to change. This belief sits at the heart of my work as a therapist.
My background includes coaching, teaching and working therapeutically with adults. For the past two years I have been practising as a self-employed psychotherapist, supporting individuals through a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Alongside my clinical work, I also teach counselling skills, which has strengthened my understanding of theory, ethical practice and the importance of reflective work.
I work collaboratively with clients, seeing therapy as something we do together rather than something that is done to you. I aim to offer a space where you feel safe enough to explore your experiences honestly, at your own pace, without judgement or pressure. I value authenticity, compassion and respect, and I believe that meaningful change begins when people feel truly heard and understood.
My practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a model I chose because I have seen first-hand how effective and transformative it can be for many people. CBT offers practical ways of understanding how thoughts, emotions and behaviours interact, and how change can be supported in manageable and realistic steps. At the same time, I recognise that no single approach suits everyone. Other therapeutic modalities can be equally valuable, and I am mindful of working within my competence, always considering what is most appropriate for each individual client.
Ultimately, my role is to walk alongside you as you make sense of your experiences, develop insight and work towards change that feels meaningful to you. Therapy does not remove life's difficulties, but it can help you relate to them differently, with greater clarity, self-compassion and resilience.
