Terms & Conditions
Key information about how counselling is offered, including boundaries, confidentiality, fees and cancellations.
Purpose of the service
Counselling offers a confidential and supportive space to explore emotional and psychological difficulties. My role is to work collaboratively with you to support understanding, reflection and change. Counselling is not advice giving, crisis intervention or emergency care.
I work with adults and offer sessions either in person or online. The service is offered within the limits of my training, competence and ethical responsibilities.
Boundaries of the service
Counselling sessions are 50 minutes in length and take place at an agreed time. The therapeutic relationship is a professional one and always remains boundaried.
Contact outside of sessions is limited to practical arrangements such as scheduling, cancellations or payment. Ongoing therapeutic support is provided within sessions only.
Fees and payment
The fee for counselling sessions is £50 per session.
Payment is made by bank transfer and is required at least 24 hours before the session to confirm and secure your appointment. Payment details will be provided in advance.
Cancellations and missed sessions
If a session is cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or if a session is missed, a £15 fee will apply. This reflects the time that has been set aside for you.
Where possible, notice of cancellations is appreciated.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling and helps to create a safe and trusting therapeutic space. Information shared in sessions will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent.
There are some limits to confidentiality. Information may be shared without consent if:
- There is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others
- There are safeguarding concerns involving children or vulnerable adults
- Disclosure is required by law
Where possible, any decision to breach confidentiality will be discussed with you in advance.
Data protection
Personal data is handled in line with UK data protection legislation. Further information about how your data is collected, stored and used can be found in the Privacy Policy on this website.
Online sessions
Online sessions are delivered via Zoom. Clients are responsible for ensuring they have a private, secure and suitable environment for online counselling. While every effort is made to maintain confidentiality, online communication carries some inherent risks.
Emergency information
Counselling is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please contact emergency services by calling 999 or attend your nearest Accident and Emergency department.
If you need urgent mental health support, you may wish to contact your GP, NHS 111, or Samaritans on 116 123.
Ending counselling
You are free to end counselling at any time. I may also end counselling if it becomes clear that the service is no longer appropriate or if I am unable to continue working with you.
Wherever possible, this will be discussed openly and support with endings will be offered.
Changes to these terms
These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page.
